Thanks for the input. I figured it wasnt normal, but needed to know if the ragtops did it, because the dealer had vinyl tops on the lot and none of them did it.

I take the car in today so I'm interested to see what they say...

Well just to give you guys an update, i've had the service visit from hell.

they took the car in late, as i brought it in Tuesday morning, and they didn't touch it till Wednesday. While it was on the lift, somebody drove a truck with large roof rack things into it, and the rear bumper needs to be replaced and re painted.

Then today, they went to put the transmission back in, and they snapped the shifter. So now im wondering if i should buy the MGW, and have it installed for free. I'll get a new stock shifter for free, because it was ordered, so id have to find out what i could sell it for as well.

Also since im only 21, i cant get a rental car from them... this stinks, haha

Holy crap! Service visit from hell indeed!

They probably snapped the threaded portion on the shifter linkage extension. That's what I've seen as the weak point. I'm not sure if they'll be willing to do a shifter swap, as they may not want to install something they aren't familiar with. It won't hurt to ask though.

Hopefully they got your top straightened out. Why was it on a lift in the first place?

I talked to the service manager and he said he'd be happy to install an aftermarket one if I brought it to him.

The car was on the lift to take the transmission out to replace the plate above it, its a TSB to fix what sounds like an exhaust rattle.

Also the place that does the vert work said its not right, and the appointment to fix it is on tuesday.

Nice, sounds like your dealership is easy to work with!

That makes sense on the lift part now. I didn't know you were also having another issue fixed, and couldn't figure out what the lift had to do with the top!

Well i got the car back today, and they did good on a number of things.

The bumper looks nicely re-painted, there is no more rattle, and the top folds down ever so perfectly now.

however i got home and realized that when they put the mufflers back on, the right one was touching the bumper, and had melted a nice part of it off. When i looked under the car i found the hanger on the right stinger is so far bent out of shape it hurts to look at, thus causing the miss alingment. so im going back tomorrow to have them fix that, and we'll see what happens.

also because of my troubles, my 30k service will be free of charge. :-D

ill let you know how the "new" issue goes...
