1985 5.0 Convert Value
I am a long time member here at M/F, done a lot of posting on the Classic section, but this will be my first post on the 5.0 section.
A couple months ago I picked up a nice little 85 Convertible with 58,000 original miles, never been in any kind of wreck.
Auto tranny, runs and drives perfectly. (no exageration at all)
The PO bought the car new and had maintained the car really well, receipts etc. It is very clean and rock stock, the paint is what I would call 75% but very nice for it's age. The inside is perfect except the inside of the seats are faded some.
The last 5.0 I owned was way back about 91 so I am at a loss to what my little car might be worth.
I would love to hear some opinions as to it's value "as is", and what the value might be with new paint etc.
I have a paint shop so paint would be easy cheezy for me on this car, but if the car might be worth more as a "survivor" I won't paint it.
Give me some opinions 5.0 guys!!, "restore" it, "pimp it out", or leave it in survivor status?

sorry to tell you but since that 85 is an automatic, it also means it has cfi fuel injection, meaning it's the least desirable of that year, however it is a convertible, so +1 but other than that, the drivetrain combo suxs........my 85 was cfi, getting rid of the cfi was the best thing I did.

btt.....
wow, this was moved to "convertible tech"? I was wondering why I couldn't find the thread....
I would have thought that this post fit better in 5.0 General Discussion, but I am a dumb ***....
Probably more traffic here anyway....

Value of your '85 Vert...
Well...I am in SoCal and point that out because market value likely will fluctuate slightly in different areas of the country I would expect.
I am new to Mustang ownership myself after having just purchased a 1984 5.0GT 5-speed Convertible this week here for $800. Now I am doing cartwheels as I think I nearly stole the car, it is all original and a great runner with nice original paint and interior. But in my search for an 84-85 5-Speed, I was finding that prices were generally in the $1.300 to $4,800 range depending on the condition. One way to ratchet down on market value might be to do an "advanced search" on ebay. You can log in the years of your search along with specific Mustang data (ie..convertible..etc.) and see what they have been selling for lately.
Also, you could go to a site like "site Mash" which tracks Craigs list postings and learn what other sellers are asking.
Hope this helps!
