Default Convertible top maintenance

I really hadn't done anything other than washing it, but is there something that I should be putting on to help maintain my top? Something like armor all, but for convertible tops??

I have two convertibles.

64.5 has original vinyl top. I wash it w/ only dish soap. Rear window was replaced about 15 years ago and still looks good. Has fairly minor seam tear behind rear side window. Color is faded but still looks presentable. I would like to stitch the 6" tear behind rear window and apply blue vinyl dye. I normally raise it once in the winter and lower it once in the summer; except when I get caught in the rain. The top is a bit stiff so I like to raise it on a warm day.

67 has a 10 year old vinyl top that looks like new. Wash only with dish washing soap. Upon close inspection a small tear is trying to start behind rear side window where it touches metal. I am careful when operating top to avoid stressing that area; I believe the install was not perfect in that one area. My 67 top is very tight and difficult to latch on a cold day. Top looks great raised; I may loosen top a bit when I get caught up.

If you ever plan to dye the top I would avoid silicone products.

Sun is the enemy of convertible tops.

I have used a product called Ragg Topp on many of my prior covertables. Just used it last night on my '10. It helps keep the top water repellant and UV protected. I put three coats on last night and will follow up with one coat a year. It keeps the top looking new.

I don't recommend using anything but ragg topp cleaner and protectant or 303 cleaner and protectant - both of which are made specifically for convertible tops. I definitely would not put armor all on it.
