Default Convertible top motor problems

Okay guys, parked the car put the top up Friday evening, woke up Saturday jumped in the car to run some quick errands, went to put the top down all I get is some clicking noise from back by the motor when I press the top switch up or down, does this mean the top motor went out on me overnight, or could it be another problem. Any help or advice on what to check would be great, the wrong time of year for the top not to go down LOL. 1990 GT convertible.
Thanks, Jeff
