2008 vert DIY?

I do this top regularly in my shop in Central Florida. I don't think it is impossible, but I would discourage you from trying to replace this top yourself.
The '94 Stang that Ryan did himself is totally different from the convertible you are contemplating working on. His had like 18 nuts that you take loose from the inside and then you pull four tacking bars out and work on them outside of the car. The '08 has only 4 bolts holding the rear tacking bar to the rest of the frame, but then you can't get it out of the car OR when you do, you end up scraping up the black plastic trim moldings that surround the convertible opening.
I recently replaced a top on an '08. I can tell you, the insurance industry hates the fact that you have to install a whole new top when the back glass breaks.
The cloth top was optional for '08. Sailcloth vinyl standard. All Cobras came with cloth. Cloth top will add about $200 to the price of the top.
My shop comes right in that 1800 to $2000 price.
