Question Problem With Connecting window to Top on Sides

I am running into a problem where, when installing my new convertible top, off either side of the rear window the two sets of fabric are not connected and you can put your hand through into the car so water would obviously leak into it. How should I close that gap, epoxy or glue maybe?

Did you seriously just "bump" after only an hour? lol wow.

Bumping is pointless, especially on this forum. Try having some patience.

I have not installed a top on my car yet but I can tell you that it is a 2 piece top and there is no need to glue the 2 together. I believe you have to redo the top and pull it tighter. It takes professionals a bunch of times to get all the gaps and wrinkles out. Good luck.

I know it is a 2 piece top but on those open flaps you can stick your hand in it and reach the inside of the car so water would easily get in there.

I also have to repull it and cut the excess vinyl off but I didn't want to do that until I figured out how to put it all back on.

There is a dvd on ebay from aoksales.com that gives you detailed step by step instructions on how to remove and replace your top. there are lines on your new top that have to be lined up with the tack strip that is used as a starting point. i bought the dvd and it explains everything. good luck.

+1 on the DVD. It is step by step and other than a broken nose, everything went perfect. Nice tight top with no gaps or leaks.

After you finish installing the top, if the sides are still loose, then you need to tighten the sides and back of the top by removing the tack rail, unstaple the top, pull it tighter and restaple.

Assume that you will have to do this several times before you are pleased with the appearance of the top.

Good Luck!

Wow man you need to pull that off and start over it looks like it is way too loose! One way I kept mine tight was to prop the top up a little so that when we were done and lowered the top it was tight. It was too tight but after letting it sit a day in the sun it stretched out and looked great.

Also watch YouTube videos to get the general idea. It helped a lot.
