Default Rock chip

Got a rock chip in the hood, very small, but noticeable since I baby the damned thing. Any suggestions on the easiest and / or best way to take care of that?

BTW, what is the consensus on bras? Never really cared for them much, but I have a black 09 GT and everything shows, like the little bugs...

Rock chips can be fixed by those windshield repair guys. The systems these day sare very good and will be virually noticable. Don't try to do it yourself with a kit from auto parts store if you are as finicky as you say.

I would recommend against the traditional bra. They are VERY outdated and just don't look good imo. There is a new technology out called ClearBra. Virtually invisible also and protects your car. Again, there are professionals to install this so don't try to do yourslef. If you make a mistake, you will have to buy another one.

The exact same thing happened to my car when it was new. All of the sudden I noticed a chip right on the lip of the hood. Damn was I mad!!! I did what I could by going over it with several thin layers of touch up paint. It's only a bit noticeable if you are looking right at it.

I went right out to the auto parts store and bought a black bra after deciding that it was not going to happen again. Personally, I think it looks great and seems to match very well with the mineral gray paint and black accents on my car. I always keep mine looking shiny.

I'm not too familiar with the clear bras made now. I saw a car with one those at the place were I got my windows tinted. They are made by the 3M company. I didn't ask how much they cost, but I do know that their automotive products are extremely expensive but durable nevertheless. I noticed that it had some rock marks on the surface; so it looks like it will protect the paint but you will still be able to see the marks.

If your finicky like me and don't like to see a single mark on your baby, then you might like the traditional black bra better.

Thanks, I'll check out the clear bra. I have a black GT, so I don't think a traditional one would look too bad, just don't want it to look gay, that's why I asked about consensus. BTW, anyone in N. Illinois looking for tint jobs, just had back windows tinted limo black. Looks really sharp on a black GT, $110, took 50 minutes. If anyone wants info, let me know, they are located in Streamwood.

Traditional bras are good for trapping dust and dirt, vibrating away and slowly working at basically removing your paint. Some people live in less dusty and dirty areas and don't have any complaints, while others couldn't have it on their car for a week before it does damage.

If you are finicky, the traditional bra will ruin your day. Get the 3m Clear Bra. It's almost invisible and it protects against bugs & rock chips, best of all it can be removed every so often and replaced.

Word of warning though. Clear Bra isn't cheap...but worth the investment.
