99 Cobra Hood Haze?? Help!!
My hood has a haze on the paint. The area with haze is right over the engine. A body shop told me that it was paint fade, and the hood needs to be repainted. What I don't understand is why the haze is not all over the hood? There are parts of the hood that are very shiny. Could this haze be caused from engine heat? Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm probably not very helpful, and pix would be useful, but the center of the hood, roof, and deck lid on cars and even trucks/SUVs seem to be the first place paint starts to haze up. Those surfaces get a major pounding from the elements. It may indeed be time to repaint the hood.

That's one option (My brother owns a body shop and I help him all I can when I can) but. A good paint and body shop should be able to match the paint. Idk about other places in the US, but around here, they will blend the paint, fading the new color on say, the hood, across the parts of the car that are visually close, such as the tops of the fenders. I do know on my 06 GT, my brother was able to paint it and match it almost identical to the original paint job without blending. Its close enough you have to know where the damage was to pick out the difference in color or be a paint and body guy yourself. I see it like a glaring neon sign, but others don't notice until I point it out. Does that help at all? *G*

It depends on what the overall paint looks like. If the rest of the paint is in good shape then they may be able to blend the paint on into the front fenders without having to paint the whole car.
