Default Need to buff out some scratches but need help

I haven't had any experience with buffing so am thinking about buffing my car because I have a lot of minor scratches and swirl marks. Can anyone tell me if this is something an average joe, with no body work experience, could successful do? I have watched videos on youtube and it seemed like it wouldn't be to difficult, just time consuming.

Also is the best/most popular polisher the Porter Cable 7424? Or are there polishers that are the same?

I have looked on Obsessive Detail and found what looks to be a great Porter Cable 7424 polisher kit. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The PC 7424 is a great starter polisher for a beginner, you can get awesome results without having to worry about burning up your paint. I use a Cyclo, PC 7424 and a Hitachi circular, but use the PC the most.

I highly recommend going with my PC/Optimum Package, this has everything you need to get going. I give members here $10 off my PC kits, just enter mustang forums in the comment box at checkout and I refund the discount back to you. Let me know if you have any other questions I can help you with.
