Default Repainting my spoiler

Well my rear spoiler needs repainting, I'm not sure if the whole thing needs to be redone, or if I just need to sand the clearcoat off and apply new coats of clearcoat? Any ideas which direction I should take?

Well it's not hard to take the thing off, just pop your trunk and literally undo the bolts. Take off the spoiler and start painting. If I were you though, I would get that professionally done unless you are good with paint. What you have there does indeed look like clear-coat degrading, but it might be deeper than it looks, i'd have to run my hand over it.

i dont think it needs a repaint. spots still display paint there. you will need some touchup. may be that also wont be necessary if rubbing will help in getting those spot away

are you not looking at the same picture that i am, because putting rubbing compound or polish on that isnt going to make it better. you do realize that the clear coat is flaking off, don't you? but anyways, back to the OP, i personally would have the whole thing repainted, not just recleared. you might be able to get away with it being just cleared, but those spots where the clear is gone now have probably faded some, depending on how long the clear has been failing. so if you just strip the clear and recler it, then it might still look splotchy because of paint fade.
