steam cleaner/carpet shampooer
hey guys. im looking to buy one of the handheld steam cleaners or carpet shampooers in the near future. was looking to get something along these lines
didnt know if anyone had any experience with any of these cleaners and how well they actually worked. we used to have one of the hoover upright shampooers, but everything started to break. and i want something more portable. something with a decent price would be good as well. not really looking to spend more than $100 if possible.

I have and use this one all the time:
Bissell 1425B Little Green Proheat Turbo Carpet Cleaner
here's the amazon link:

The attachments on this one make it easy to reach the contours of a car's carpet. It doesn't steam, but it heats the cleaning solution and does a great job. I recently used it to clean a spilled latte out of the GF's car without a trace.

Those work pretty well for the price. For weekend warriors it will be fine. If you are going to be using it more often you will have to upgrade to a better extractor.
I started out using the Little Green Machine, the only probabem with these smaller units is that they fill up quick and have to be dumped out and also you will have to fill up with more water frequently. The heated versions are a lot better at removing stains and carpet cleaning than the non-heated.

yeah, im not planning on using it too terribly often. we deal mostly with classic cars, so many are in good shape already. but we also do some work for the local movie studios and some of those cars are pretty bad off. the last one we got was the head producers car and the carpet was horrible. so we had to sub that job out, and therefore i lost some money. so it would be nice to spend the $100 and have one of these around for when i need it. the last one i had at home was more of a shampooer, it had the solution you mixed and it heated it and sprayed it on. not sure if that or a steamer is better. thanks for the replies.

The extractor that actually shoots out hot water and sucks it up at the same time is what you are going to need. A steamer is only going to get stains and dirt that is on the surface, the extractor will get deep down. I have a steamer and a carpet extractor, each of them serve their own purpose and I couldn't go without either of them!

winter project
the green machine does the job in the house. my wife has used if for everything and never disappointed. while the pony is docked for the winter this will be a great project. this beats $170 + $70 for new carpets. theres really nothing wrong with mind. thats for the post. ill spend that money under the hood.
