Default painting my 98 GT w/ Duplicolor Paint shop. need to use primer? and other questions

planing on murdering out my mustang and because i am on a budget( no job) im looking at using the paint shop series. one of the questions i have is do i need to use a primer or can i just sand the paint to give it something to grab on too. im not going to half ass the prep im going to sand the whole thing and remove lights, bumpers, trunk, and hood. and am going to do the jams.

also how many quarts do i need. i've heard from 1 to 4 quarts.

D*mn nice photoshop job. I dont have any experiance painting cars, but, based on the wheels i *almost* did, make sure you realy like the paint first. The can of duplicolor I got was a total POS. Make sure you test it on a nice sized piece of metal before using it on your car. The paint I got had a sh*tty metallic glitter that I wouldnt wish on anyone. Make dead sure you like the paint before you apply it...
