Default Bugs on paint (how long until they stain?)

Hey guys, I'm just about to take a run out on the highway this week and I'm going to be leaving my Mustang at the airport, so it's probably going to be 4-5 days before I get back and can wash it.

So I was wondering about bugs, and if I need to worry about them staining my paint in that time period.

I just had my hood repainted about 2 weeks ago, so I haven't waxed it yet, and I don't want to get back from my trip after 4 days and have messed up paint that I can't clean the bug stains off of.

Do you think my bumper and hood will be okay to leave for a few days with some bugs on them, or should I take some bug 'n tar remover to the airport with me and clean my car off before I leave it?

I've heard a few people say it would probably take all summer for the bugs to "bake" on and stain the paint, and I've heard (from a different car forum) that someone had stained paint they couldn't clean after only 7-8 days.

It really depends, this time of year when it is really hot the bugs can bake onto the paint and etch their way into the clear. I always get bugs off as soon as possible. I would take a quick detailer with you and clean the bugs off at the airport just to be safe.

Also, when you wax make sure the bumper/front gets at least two coats of wax so it'll be easier to get bugs out.
