Default Aztec Hot Rod Hot Water Carpet Extractor How-To + Review

Early this morning I had the opportunity to test out an Aztec Hot Rod Hot Water Carpet Extractor on some floor mats that had not been cleaned in quite some time. The floor mats were covered in various stains that appeared impossible to get out.

If you're not familiar with it already, the Aztec Hot Rod is a hot water carpet extractor that's designed to deep clean carpet using the power of hot water. The Aztec is ideal for professional detailers because of its ease of use, effectiveness, and most importantly, the fact that it's portable and doesn't require a lot of space in your detailing rig.

Even if you're not a professional detailer and just want an effective means of deep cleaning the carpet in your car and home, the Aztec is a great investment.

Here you can see the driver's side floor mat prior to cleaning. As you can see there is dirt, oil, and grease that has accumulated over time.

The machine itself is very easy to use and requires very little time to set it up. All you have to do is fill the solution tank with warm water, turn the machine to the heating position, and about 10 minutes later you're all set and ready to go with hot water. Next you flip the switch to the vacuum position and you're all set.

To aid in the cleaning process the Aztec Hot Rod also includes a 32oz bottle of ready to use Detailer's Pro Carpet Extractor Pre-Treatment. This pre-treatment is effective on various types of stains including grass, oil, coffee, food, grease, etc. It doesn't contain any harsh chemicals, will not stiffen fabric, and can also be used with a scrub brush to break up some of the more tougher stains prior to using the carpet extractor.

Once the water tank has finished heating up, flip the switch to the vacuum position and go to work. It's as simple as spraying the Pre-Treatment on the surface (agitating where necessary), pulling the trigger to release the hot water over the area, going back and forth over the stain until it disappears, and you're all finished.

Here is how the floor mat looked once finished. It took less than 15 minutes to clean all four floor mats and it required very little agitation from the scrub brush.

When used in conjunction with a good scrub brush and a high quality upholstery cleaner, there are very few stains the Aztec can't handle.
