Default Paint chips and rainbow reflections!

So, I was washing the salt off my car today... It's my daily driver and I don't have another car much less money for a beater, and this car stays outside against the snow, rain, sun, you name it. Anyways, after washing it, I found three paint chips and the water would dry into some weird fashion. I assume its because I'm just in need of a new coat of wax, but I'm still a week before my 60 days is up. So, I have attached some pictures, and questions...

1. For the paint chips, what's the best way (and maybe the cheapest) way to fix this? Will I need to fix this before waxing?

2. Is this just because it needs a new coat of wax? If so, how long before bad stuff happens to the paint?

What is the 60 days thing? Were you told to wait that long before waxing?

Yes, you need wax.
This is how water should be beading on your car.

As for chips I've never tried to touch mine up for cheap so I can't say much for that. Maybe go to a local store and get their touch up paint.
I can say a lot for the Dr. Color Chip kits. I did a whole lot on my hood when I first got the car. Some filled so perfectly I had a hard time finding them to show people. The kit has also lasted me forever so while it's a bit pricey I think you get more than your money's worth for it.

Ah well, the car's been in a recent accident, so when they repainted some fenders, they said to not wax until the clear coat cures, which is about 60 days.

I'll see about the paint chips though. I'm still under bumper to bumper warranty, I wonder if that covers paint.

Warranty does not cover paint chips, unless it was a manufacturer's defect that caused it. Stone chips are considered normal wear and tear.

Ah gotcha.
Personally I'd wax it. To me that's close enough and I'd rather be protecting my clear coat from the elements, particularly driving around in salty winter weather.
Then you can give it a full clay, seal, and wax later.

If anything an extra warranty you can buy may cover dings but rock chips... Get some touch up paint. There are plenty more where they came from anyway. That's a constant battle on a daily driver.

I got one of their kits but I forget now which. Just different sizes/prices.

Should I wait on the touch up before I wax?

You mean give it time to cure before you wax?
I would. I don't think it needs the 60 day wait deal. Maybe a week just to be sure it's set.
That's just a guess though. I waxed mine no more than two weeks later and never had a problem but I don't know if that's the "right" way.

well the colder the area in which you live affects how long new paint takes to cure. so the colder it is the longer its going to take to fully cure.
