Default Dropped my detailing clay!

So I was working the clay on my mustang today and I accidently dropped it on my garage floor. I picked it up right away and it didn't seem to have picked up much garbage on it. I keep my garage reasonably clean but it has been months since I swept that area. I know I have heard before that if you drop your bar of clay that you should throw it out and get a new one but what do you guys think? Is it safe to keep using it or will it scratch my paint up?

if you can figure out which side hit the ground, pull that piece off and toss it. If not, toss the whole thing or you are rubbing sand on you black car. I'd probably toss it and head to Auto Zone or wherever. A little trick for next time : break it in two in case this happens again. In other words, only use what you need and not the whole thing.

Ok. Thanks. Good idea to pull it apart into two pieces. I'm sure It won't be the last time I drop it.

Hello!

Whenever clay hits the ground, it's best to throw it away. Since it picks up SO much when it does hit the ground, removing the dirty piece you see, may not really be all of it. Thus, potentially inducing some pretty gnarly damage to your paint.

If your clay comes in a large bar, split it into two or three pieces, just in case something like this happens.

Have a good night!
