Can painted wheels be corrected like a car's paint?
I've just got a set of low mile Boss 302 wheels (black painted with a machined lip) with scratches that vary from fine to moderate. Can anybody point me towards a step-by-step how to on correcting the paint on these wheels as best as can be done without a refinish? None of them are through to the metal. Just on the surface.

Powder Coating is much, much harder than paint. Typically painted wheels are also cleared. You can treat those just like your paint panels on the Stang.
However Powder, you can try correcting it, it may or may not budge.

Good news for me! I got in touch with the Ford Customer Service Rep here and asked if they could find out what the wheel is finished in and she got back to me that it is painted aluminum. So when I get a free minute in my life, I'm going to compound, polish, and wax these babies!

I would be very careful with your compound choices however, as there is no saying how much paint/clear are on the wheels. I am guessing your going to do these by hand, so you really shouldn't have much problem. Post them up after your finished!
