Default Just washed but stripes need attention

So I just washed the GT yesterday and dried with a good microfiber towel. Car looks great but there are some spots/areas on the vinyl stripes that don't look right. The stripes are matte black.

Do you use a cleaner on the stripes or a particular detailer that will clean them? I am using Meguiars Mirror Bright Detail Spray but it isn't removing it. It's not super noticeable but I know it's there.

I want to was the stripes but I want them to be as clean as possible before I do. Any thoughts?

Throwing in some extra pictures just because it is really clean right now and I live off of a dirt road so it is rare.

If I remember correctly, there is vinyl stripe cleaner out there on the market.

I'd consider trying a product like 303 Automotive Protectant (303 Aerospace Protectant) in an inconspicuous place to see how it works with the vinyl stripes. I've had a lot of luck with it on plastic and vinyl surfaces on the exterior of my car, but haven't used it on my vinyl fender hash-marks. Heck; I even use it on my tires instead of tire shine (it acts as a cleaner and gives the tire a new and fresh look without looking shiny).

Again, I'd try it on an inconspicuous area of the vinyl and if you get a favorable result, I'd apply it to the stripes on your car with a fairly lint free applicator like a really good microfiber clothe.

I found a product used on plastic windows on airplanes that saved my stripes. Very safe! It's Micro-gloss from Micro-Surface Finishing products , Wilton, Iowa 52778.

You can find it on the internet. It polishes out scratches without hurting the vinyl stripes! I had very bad chemical spots on my new Mustang from the factory & I polished them out with no harm to the vinyl. I suspect you won't need more than 4 OZ. Great stuff for cleaning, polishing vinyl & plastic.

Good Luck!

If I remember correctly, the stripes that came factory on your car are on glossy vinyl. I don't think he's going to want to use a polish for polymers on his matte black stripes. Any polish will knock down the texture that makes the stripes matte and make the problem worse. His best bet is going to be to use a vinyl cleaning product that's going to "hydrate" the surface of the vinyl uniformly.

I think you are right! Duh! I read the post, but didn't pay attention to the picture of the car. In any case the product I suggested is great for any "glossy or clear" plastic.

I'm wondering if there is a potential for the product you mentioned to be used to freshen up headlights???? It might be an alternative to some of the kits that are on the market.
