What browser is everyone using who is having this problem? How many are using Vista as their operating system? I had different issues previously until I downloaded the free version of FireFox. I like it much better than IE.

Sorry, I was just alerted to this thread. We've had other threads and have explained the issues and solutions. After we made changes to the format for the site, a number of things changed.

Members that haven't been on since the changes need to know that your log in name is now case sensitive and has to be entered exactly the way you typed it at sign up.

Also, Internet Explorer's latest updates are a problem with some things here. We aren't changing those things, so I suggest that you change your browser. I use Fire Fox with no issues.

Another thing. It was brought to my attention that it "looks" like you logged on when actually did not log on. Then when you go to submit a post, it tells you that you're not logged on. Make sure you are typing your name and password correctly.

One more thing. If you sit idle for too long or take too long before you post a message, you will get logged off. If you do type up a long message, then go eat a sangwich, then come back to post and you get the "logged off" message, simply hit the back arrow, copy your post to be safe, log in again, then post it.

Chris

When I log in, I get the "Welcome for logging in Leadfoot...." and when the main index comes up on the screen, it shows I am no longer logged in. So it is working to a degree. It takes 4-6 attempts before the program recognizes my screen name and keeps me in. I have noticed it seems to work better when I put check the Remember Me box. The same thing is happening to Wildcobrar. If you check our profiles, it indicates we have logged in when we actually have not. Getting real frustrating.

The idea of changing my browser isn't going to happen. I'm not computer savy.

Chris, thanks a bunch for finally give me a response.

It is not difficult to do. It consists of downloading firefox, and I think you have to run a wizard, and that's about it. If others have recently installed FF, please chime in (it's been a while since I installed FF).

I'm using Firefox at home with the most recent update and it seems to be fine most of the time. When I use IE on the computer at school I have to click on the "remember me" box every time or it wont log me in, although it says it logging me in, same problem as everyone above. Get this though last night it did it to me one time on my home computer with Firefox. I clicked on the "remember me" box and it logged me in no problem. Weird! No problems today on Firefox and I didn't have to click on the "remember me" box.

All I can say is to use the "remember me" box if you have any problems and it works every time.

I am still having problems. I have tried using the remember me box as well. It doesn't make a difference. The next option is just to never log out. lol.

Leadfoot, it really is easier to use FireFox and it's a much better and a less intrusive browser.
If you give it a try and can't figure it out, I'll personally walk you through it.

Let me give you an idea of it's ease.

1. Download the application by clicking their download box. It will pop up a box that says "save file". Click it.
2. After it downloads, it will put an icon on your desktop (front screen) of your computer.
3. Click it.
4. Check the "I agree" box and hit next.
5. It will install automatically.
6. It will ask if you want FireFox as you main browser. Check "yes".
7. It will probably ask you to restart your computer.
8. Internet Explorer will try one more time to not lose your business and ask if you want to keep IE as your browser. Click no and the "don't ask again" box.

FireFox will also ask you if you want to transfer all of your favorite places/bookmark over to FireFox. Check yes. They will still be in IE if you decide to use IE at a later date.

That's it. It's actually easier than I just explained it.

Now, as you browse the Internet, there will be a little thing that drops down if a site has pop ups, etc. If it's a site you like, like MF, then in the options box click, OK. It won't ask you again after you tell it "this site is ok".

The problem that you are having with signing on has to do with how pop ups and cookies are handled. To sign on to MF, you need to accept cookies and allow MF to use pop ups. It's not to spam you. It's because all of the fancy features here are pop ups. Even the box that you log in with is a pop up, "I think". But I know that all of the drop down choices for your profile, etc, are recognized as pop ups to browsers and if you have a pop up blocker, you are fighting against all of our awesome features here. That is why so many are having trouble.

Here's the Fire Fox link. Just click the download box and you're on your way to ....THE FUTURE, lol. >> http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Thanks Hun for the time spent typing up your reply. I have enough problems with my computer as it is. If I were to have a brand new computer, then I would go for it. I have so much stuff on this, I'm afraid it'll crash. lol.

It's weird that yesterday I could not log on after 6 attempts and gave up. Today I was able to log in on the first attempt. I just can't win. lol.

I started having the problems everyone else has described today.
Using Win XP SP3, FF3 (IE at the moment because it sort of works)no changes have been made to my system or settings recently. In addition, my sig pic doesn't show up in posts and in my profile, everything is just red X es instead of buttons-no sig there either but right clicking properties shows its location but states the size as 20X30 pixels.

I've been on multiple times since the site changed, I tried in Mozilla (which is updated), Google Chrome (which is updated), and also internet explorer (which is also updated). They all gave me issues signing in. I have Vista as my operating system.

I haven't had problems with this until last night.
