88build's "Notyet" - 1988 Ford Mustang

Description:

My son and I built this over a course of 2 years when we had time to work on it. All we wanted was a dependable toy to play with. We kept it simple and easy to work on.

Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:

Started by getting rid of the computer and fuel injection. Went with a Holley 2bbl and Sheffield manifold with a header. Wanted something we didn't need a diagnostic tool to fix. Kept the 2.3. Engine has a little attitude and we can cruise forever on a tank of gas.

Interior/Exterior Modifications:

The car started red on red. We switched to a black interior with different seats we had laying around. The body was smoothed, getting rid of all exterior trim pieces. We cut the belt molding out of the bumper covers and smoothed them also. Gas tank from a '67 went in next so we could have the cap in rear where it should be on a Mustang. Door handles were shaved with remotes installed. Trunk lock was shaved. Car was painted Pewter with a Smoked Black Metallis stripe. Smoked lenses were put in front.

Future Modifications:

Who knows. Hope we're done for now. Time to drive the wheels off!
