Ford started the whole " pony car " era with the introduction of the Mustang1964 1/2 model. It took GM a couple of years to catch up (1967) with the introduction of the Camaro/Firebird. Ever since then, it been a seesaw horsepower battle between GM & Ford with the seesaw being tilted towards GM in the latest incarnation of the " F " bodies.

I don't see where anyone gets a 3.8 Camaro runs a 14.9.. Probably the same as when mm&ff ran that in a 3.8 Mustang. I was trying to decide between a Camaro and Mustang when I bought my car and the people I talked to on some Camaro forums said their 6ers were running 16's..
ahhh, this situation is funny... been going on since when? 67?
anyway, like everyone said ford 5.0 does whip the GM 5.0 and 5.7 in the 80s. and damn i should know that.. had a1988 5.7 TPI trans am, that car wasbull**** for a 350.[:@]although my 96 Z28 had testicles.
and im not concerned about v6 performance.... is anyone for that matter?
my vote: 87-93 winner - mustang 5.0
94-02(death) Camaro Z28/SS
just remember, even though the mustang has not always been as powerful as the cars with the late GM engines, the mustang has always blown away the competition in sales numbers...

making money is what it's all about, Ford FTW
very true, we all know its the mustangs fault for the collapse of the F-body. everyone always wants to outperform the other.... of course we all know, more power = more money and i can say from experience in chevrolet sales, alot of the blue collar people who buy ford and chevy ultimately go for the cheaper car. AlthoughGM fan or not, you have to admit the 4th Gen camaro/firebird did have more bang for the buck, only problem was it was a fewtoo manybucks for most.
generally camaros have outporformed stangs in past years. 67-69, im not too about the late 70's. 87-92 stangs.LT1's and on camaros dominate. xcept for the snake. However IMHO since ive had a 97 3.8 camaro also i would have to say v6stang vs v6maro = driver's race
we can try it out right now...i have the 2 enemies in the garage now a 2000 camaro 3.8 and a 2007 mustang 4.0....somebody can drive the maro while i drive the stang...
Nice job bringing back a post that's near 2 years old. Why do newbs always do this[:@]
Because they use the search. If they didn't then some people would bitch at them
