some questions
Hello Im thinking of crossing over to mustangs. I have had many f-body's and well are just getting tired of them. Just curiuos of what you is better for modding and reliabilty the 5.0s or the 4.6s? What kinda mpg do they get? Im just taking it that they will be easier to work on then the damn cramped engine compartments of 4gen f-bodys. My ride now is a 95 firebird with a six speed and bolt-ons so I would want to get the perfomance bout on par with that at least.

RE: some questions
I had the F-body and they are faster.......stock. Dude you can get all of the MODs you want for these cars. I am just amazed at all of the stuff you can bolt on but beware and ask the forum first before you go putting MODs on them. I made a few $$ mistakes and should have come here first but these 5.0 can really get fast with a some time and a few dollars. The firebird is cool but my buddy has to take his to the shop everytime he upgrades because you have to work on that car from underneath...................these mustangs seem to be easier, more parts, more room and you can get all kinds of cool ****..........4.6? I have one buddy with one and he doenst want to make it fast but seems OK with many parts to get...................you can chip it with more hp but the 5.0 seems to have more ext mods.

RE: some questions
the 5.0's are the way to go if youre looking into modding. theyre cheaper to mod and they respond better to the mods. plus the fox frame is much better built for racing, and looks a hell of a lot better

RE: some questions
well there's a ton of mods available for just about every 6 or 8 cyl from 87-today. you just have to keep in mind that the mustang engine isnt as responsive to mods as a LS1, so it will take some more money to get the hp jump you want compared to a camaro.
but if you plan everything out right, you shouldnt have a problem getting to a reasonable hp goal, its just a matter of dishing out the money to get it there.

RE: some questions
Piston rods are probably the weakest link on a stock 5.0 followed by the factory tranny. If you plan on changing the compression by getting different heads or to add a forced air system you'll want to get moly or hardenend rods and some decent pistons in there to solidify the foundation for future mods. Also I believe the stock 5.0 tranny's are good for up to 350-400hp

RE: some questions
Well I think I am going to go with a 94 or 95 with a 5.0 I like the newer body styles better than the fox bodies. and with what I should get for my firebird i should be close to getting it SC, and I would hope that would put me at least back to where I was. Then its saving up for a 6 speed since I know I will miss that..lol
