Default 8.8" Rearend Swap

Where can I find a new rearend for my car, and exactly what do I have to change? Is it just the housing and ring and pinion? Or do I replace the entire axle?

Just the ring and pinion... you will need the master bearing kit also. What does your ride have now? According to KBB you have a 3.27 already.

you have to change the whole rear end dude. how else would you put an 8.8" ring gear in a housing made for a 7.5"? and while your at it, get some aftermarket lower control arms.
edit* whoops and some uppers

the only company ive seen selling complete 8.8 rearends is strange engineering. and i think they run about 2 grand. your best bet is to go to the junkyard.

Whoa I was thinking somewhere between $800-$1000 I don't think I want to shell out 2G's the junkyard is starting to sound like the way to go.

you might want to check out www.stangparts.com
this is a big Mustang salvage yard in Winder, GA, I'm sure they have complete rears for Stangs in that price range.

nomo is right your best bet is to ditch that 7.5 and get an 8.8 from an 80 model out of a junker
