Thanks guys. I found the instructions in the manual to program the fob. The dealership (pre owned) where I bought the car gave me a second fob, and I am going to the Ford dealer for the 2nd key and programing on Friday. I know it's expensive but the dealership where I bough the car is paying for it.

are you sure you have to push two buttons on the remote? I do it a lot at work and i always just push one button on them and it works every time. Except for my POS year where i have to climb into the trunk and ground some gay wire...
On some older models (like my 1997) switching the ignition key off and on will not put you in the programming mode. In some responses, there is a procedure that requires finding the keyless entry module in the trunk and shorting two pins, which puts you into the programming mode. (This is indicated by the door locks going down and up.) I discovered a simpler method. This works for my 1997 GT.
Locate fuse number 8 on the fuse panel directly under the dashboard on the driver's side. On my car, fuse number 8 it is one of the fuses closest to you, and it operates the keyless entry system and the radio. Turn on the ignition (just like the other procedures require.) With the ignition on, pull fuse number 8 and reinstall it. You will hear the door locks go down and then up, indicating you are in the program mode. Press any button on the key fob (as the other procedures require) and on any other fobs you have! Turn off the ignition, and you will hear the door locks go down and up again, indicating the programming mode is complete. The fob(s) should (all) be programmed and work properly.
