You're wrong. Good drivers take them down to 14.0 constantly.
A new car for under $20k with a few mods that's capable of low 13's. Who cares what car the engine was in before. It'll kill any stock 5.0 & go nose to nose with any stock 4.6 GT.

I dont know if the heat is killing the GTs out here in Arizona, or folks dont drive them to thier potential, but stock SRT-4s are walking away from 4.6GTs here in Phoenix. STi's are walking the SRT-4s, and the regular WRX's start out good but near the top the drivetrain power loss kills em and the SRT's take em <edited><editID>srtOWNS4.6Stock</editID><editDate>37828.8629050926</editDate></edited>

if i hadn't bought this mustang, i'd have bought an SRT-4. i just figured the insurance would be more, but its actually less. i could only get a 15G loan, but i had the cash to cover the rest. but i'd have to sell the stang for 8500. i decided to keep the stang, and maybe next year when i get back from kuwait, ( i expect to go in jan) i'll either dump that cash into the stang, or pay it off and get another car, like a WRX or an SRT-4. and although the SRT-4 is quicker stock, and parts are coming out at a decent rate, there is already a wealthy number of parts available for the WRX. believe me, i know. i have the 11.6 - dumbfounded 15.5 time slip to prove it.

I know they're not stock, but there are quite a few folks running in the 11's and even more in the 12's with WRXs.
The fastest yet is a 9.989 @ 141.93mph
I somehow doubt that's a daily driver though. The rest of them I'm pretty sure that most of them are.

Those are the top of the line versions of those cars though, with a few power adders. Get the top of the line stang, like an 03 SVT cobra and throw a few power adders on it with slicks and surely youll be smoking those tiny cars. </P>
BTW Jeep, finally was able to see that linked clip of yer car. Thats the SHIZNIT Nice turbos</P>

Actually, they aren't the top of the line. There wasn't one STi on the list that I saw.
If you look there's a '99 2.5RS on the list running 11.88
Yeah, aftermarket power adders. Sure. Show me a car that cost under $20k new that doesn't need aftermarket stuff to get under 12 seconds in the 1/4...
This whole pony car versus import car thing is stupid. You haven't got a clue what it takes to make a Subaru fast with the ~40% drivetrain loss. Put that kind of a crutch on a Mustang and it'll be slow too. I think we all know it's way easier to build big power with a large displacement engine driving the rear wheels through a manual tranny.
I don't think that jeep owns the car. IIRC he drives a Saturn.
