Computer Bypass??

Computer Bypass??
hello, I am new here i guess... but i was looking for some help. recently i purchased my 2nd mustang, a '98 silver mustang gt convertable. the problem with this was when me and my dad had to replace the siezed up 4.6 engine. we swapped with a '96 4.6 out of a crown victoria police interceptor and it went without a hitch. now, however, while the engine attempts to turn over, it will not start. the electric fuel pump will not run, and there is no fire in the spark plugs. we are THINKING this is because of the anti-theft system within the car, because we do not have the original key with the chip, only a spair that came with the purchase as a reposession car. well, that was a bit long winded, but here is my question. does anyone know if the security system would in fact be my problem, and if so, do you know a way to bypass the computer? it may be simple enough to have a key made through ford, but i dont just have $100+ laying around... thanks for your time...

RE: Computer Bypass??
the car could have what is called vats which is the vehicle anti theft system, and i know that if it like the chevys you can trace down the steering column and find the harness for the anti theft and find a resistor and hard wire it in to the feed circuit and this will allow the computer to just think that there is a key in the ignition just a shot try it out or contact a ford dealer and ask them

RE: Computer Bypass??
I had a similiar problem with a 98 gt. I put a 4.6 out of a 98 in to a 94 body. THe car would trun over and start for 30 seconds and then shut off. It eat the pats system (passive anti theft system) I had to have the same wiring harnes from the motor, the same steering column , the same computer box, and have 2 keys programed to that box. I think if you could get the steering column , computer, and keys this would fix your problem. But if you dont have a key with the correct chip in it then you will probably not get it to start. I dont think you can by pass the computer. The whole car wirring is built around that theft system and would seem impossible to me to get around. hope this helps.
