I have a 1995 gt mustang 5.0 and the oil pressure is pretty high its almost at the H, most of the time it stays at the L at the end of the normal, and I'm wondering why its so high. Does anyone have any ideas on the possible problem? Any help would be great, Thanks for your time.

Hmm you are talking about the stock guage right? The sender for that is pretty much just an on/off deal so normallyitshows about 60% no matter what the pressure is as long as its over... 6psi?

What kind of oil is in it and when was it last changed? You really need to hook up a real gage to know if the pressure is really high or if the sender is bad.

i just changed it and i used 10w 30

my 5.0 makes 50-60 pounds with 120,000 miles on it, every car is different. A good rule of thumb is 10 pounds for every 1000 rpm, if you are making that your fine.

bearing clearances would give you high or low oil pressure. Do yourself a favor and borrow or buy a mechanical oil pressure guage and check it, if your just going to test it using a mechanical by all means use the supplied nylon tubing but if your going to keep it permantely get some copper tubing or braided steel lines for it. ITS CHEAP INSURANCE, if the nylon decides to crack .
