Default Are Extended Warranties Worth It?

I am about to settle the paper work & pick up my 2008 Toyota Rav4 (4cyl Ltd) in a couple of days. My question is this: Are extended warranties and car protection packages (rust proofing, paint protection etc.) etc. worth getting? From what I have read, most books say no, - but I wanted to ask all of you directly.

I sell cars for a living .... dont tell anyone but no their not. but I make more on the warrenty than the car sometimes! the piaint protection is nice gives it a baby soft feel but interior is a heavy scotch guard and you can buy that at wallmart, but actual warrenty on the vehicle itself, Come on man.... its a toyota!!! haha it prob has the 4 year factory right?

Yeah! This warranty will pay for your vehicle's covered repairs after the manufacturer's warranty has expired. If you want more about extended warranty then I would like to prefer a site called http://www.extendedwarrantyshopper.com/ you can get all about extended warranty. Hope this will help you. All the best!

its a toyota rav4 i doubt your gonna be beating on it. i wouldnt waste the money personally but it all depends on how much the warranty costs and make sure you read the fine print on the warranty. and how many miles/years is the warranty going to cover and whats the factory warranty good till?

I dont know its hard to say. My friend bought an 05 GT that was a previous lease from a dealer, and the tranny gave out within a couple weeks. Since they recreated a warranty when they resold it, the dealer paid for it. But youre buying a new car that youre prolly not going to bang through the gears like that so its a tough call. Average your answers you get from the thread.

I'm going to say NO!
I'd go onto a Rav 4 forum and ask them. They know more about that particular model than any of us here.(I hope)

It depends. I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and I beat the hell out of that on the trails and everything was coverd, well except when I almost rolled it and landed on the tale gate. I had to buy a new one. If your going to run it hard, and Bang through the gears every day, then yes. If not and your gona baby it, then no.
