True,it's the rad cap thataffects pressure.The thermostatinitially stays closed to help warm up the engine to operating temperature,and,then,it opens and closes to help regulate the engine at operating temperature.

The engine won't reach operating temperature and will run rich forever.
If you have problems with the pressure in the cooling system there must be a leak somewhere.It is just as easy to replace the radiator as it is to remove the thermostat so I'd fix the leak.If the leak is internal it's only a matter of time before you get water in the oil and that's a sure path to a ruined engine.

Actually, the engine may warm up, it will just take longer. If the engine is having overheating issues, removing the thermostat will make it worse. The thermostat also regulates flow so that the coolant has time to absorb the heat from the block/heads.
