throwout bearing welded to input shaft

throwout bearing welded to input shaft
Yankin the tranny out of a 98 mustang to change the clutch and i think the throwout bearing is welded to the input shaft. The tranny wont come out of thge bellhousing. Looks like i will have to take the belhousing off at the same time. I'm pretty sure the shifter fork goes all the way around the throwout bearing, so it has to stay in. This project has proved to be more than a pain in the ****. Anyway to save the tranny if that is the case? Or will i need a new input shaft? or tranny itself? I will know more tommorrow once i finally get it out of the car. It was squealing so loud, i was afraid of this being the case.

RE: throwout bearing welded to input shaft
That cant be, the TO bearing needs to move on the input shaft to engage and disengage the clutch. have someone push the clutch in while you look in there you should see the TO bearing sliding on the input shaft

RE: throwout bearing welded to input shaft
Were youshifting that thing? The TO cant be welded to the input it has to move. If it really is welded you would just need a new input as long as you havent done any damage to the rest of thetranny.
