CAI and tune seem to do wonders for both cars. Or a full exhaust system from the headers back would be good gains. Maybe suspension work? lol
Depends on what you want to do. Me, I have did almost nothing except suspension work to my car. I am not really concerned about power as much as being able to have a car that can somewhat handle.

If your gonna upgrade, you want the current body style, the Mach is a sweet looking car though and cheaper.
I wish Ford would put a 6.* liter in the cobra, and the 5.4 in the standard Mustang Gt.
4.6 Being the standard option. The 4.6's lack torque N/A, one of the reasons I have not bought one, the other being the 2009 Redesign.

If you want a handling car the 05 GT's have a pretty decent suspension that can be built upon. Look at some Griggs video's to see what the new GT is capable of.
The Mach has an ok suspension that can be built upon too. TheS197 has a better suspension than the SN95 chassis.
Personally I want the Mach because I am wanting to get into road racing too. I have just about everything that you can do to a car and still keep it semi comfortable for street driving. The S197 chassis has a pretty decent following behind it for suspension components too.
Steeda is making the QS6 that has a near perfect weight distribution for road racing and race tracks. It is a supercharged V6 that has around 350-360hp and has nearly all of the Steeda handling parts.
