Default **Stripping my 01 Gt!**

Hello everybody,</P>

I wanted to strip my car a bit! It's not my daily driver so I don't really mind. </P>

How much does the back seat weigh? What other things, objects or stuff can I strip of my car to gain speed or just be faster?I do want to keep the passenger seat; it's for my gal. </P>

Give me some ideas please. Thank you in advance...</P>

Backseats will give mabye around 80-100lbs and might shave off .1 seconds.

You want to go faster? ditch the girl.

So far I've taken out all of the back seat plastic, the entire convertible top, everything in the trunk, all of the sound deadening material that came out with a putty knife, sun visors, and the rubber mat and insulation under the carpet. This winter I'm contemplating removing the side glass, motors, and back seat. Then I'm going to negate the weight savings by putting a bit of a cage in it.
Oh well.

I heard that for every"couple" pounds that you shed, you gain some horses. That's my goal. I really don't need the rear seat; I don't need carpets; I don't need insulations; what else?</P>

What else don't I need.. Anybody semi-stripped their car? </P>

I do need my girlfriend though<IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0">. Well, only somtimes.....<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P>

horatio has went to the extreme...first is the weigh for tire/rim combo
alum driveshaft
all back seat stuff
jack/spare tire
only run around on a 1/4 tank of gas
put in crank windows
pull the a/c,p/s pump,smog pump
use dumps on the exhaust
you and the hunnie go on a diet
pull wipers off, washer pump and res.
use cross drilled rotors
pull off bumper cover reinforcer
fiberglass hood
fiberglass hatch
wax car with 10-15 coats of liquid glass, rain x on all window<edited><editID>vfast</editID><editDate>37925.7366666667</editDate></edited>

oh. I've already got the f-glass hood.
And I save weight by not waxing it.
The tires/wheels could be a bit lighter, but so could my wallet.

It came with the car. If you get a glass hood, go ahead and get a set of hood pins as well. Stupid piece of crap.

crank windows = not power operated. Are there people out there who have never seen these?

If it rains - that's what the rain-x is for.

I don't plan on ever getting caught in the rain, but I'm leaving the wipers just in case. Heck, the wipers on the Mustang work better than any other car I own.
