Default Is this safe?

I finally got my new seats and harness in. The problem is the shoulder harness is way to long to fit my harness bar on the cage even adjusted to the shortest setting. So I had to wrap the harness around the bar a few time then bolt it in. I dont think this will weaken the belt but i wanted to check with you guys before I put in the driver seat.

well technically sense the bar is not sharp in anyway, it wont cut into the strap so id say, ya, its safe. it may not look the best but i cant see it being dangerous. maybe someone else may say otherwise but i dont think its a problem

I doubt the tech line is gonna let you race with the seat belts like that they are the most important part,Ive never seen that happen before.

Depending on what you track you go to it may or may not pass tech, it will fail at almost any NHRA track. I can't quite see but it also look like you don't have a seat support, this is a small bar that contacts the seat back to keep it from flexing, it's another thing they might check. Alot depends on how fast the car is, if it runs in the 11's they are pretty easy on you, but getting into the 10's they start checking alot harder and 9's require a chassis cert.

I guess I could try to anchor it where the rear seats used to bolt in. Anyone think that would be better? Over the harness bar to the floor behind. The harness is plenty long enough to reach that far. I have not been to the track in a while so Im not sure how tuff the techs would be with it set up like it is now.

You could do that, but in the event you hit somthing you have very high likley hood of breaking a collar bone due to the angle of the harness. I would buy new ones that are the correct length and made for a rollbar mount. I have been known to cut corners from time to time (like no window switch which is costing me alot) but don't skimp on the safety stuff.

I can safely add that you never cut corners on your harness, you will break something if, god forbid, you crash. Collar bones take a longgggg time to heal

Thanks for the advice guys and ofcourse you guys are right. Saftey first. I will either get a new harness that fit or find a better way to mount these. A few hundred buck for new a harness that could save injury is money well spent.
