Default how rough is a stock 5.0's idle?

I was listening to my idle just now (fully warmed up, about 700 rpm) and it has a definite chop and lope to it. doesn't sound like any other v-8 we have around the house. also i can see the motor shaking a bit. do they make any kind of gauge you can put on your lifters to measure cam lift? thanks.

Try unplugging you maf sensor on ur intake manifold, and ur iat sensor on ur air inlet and individually u should notice a difference in engine idle, if either one of these doesn't make a difference than u got problems with one of them

If it's stock it should idle very smooth.

what about a faulty plug? that would make it run a bit rough.

wat i did was just adjust the idle by opening up the throttle a little until it idles at about 1000 rpm. quick, simple, and it runs smooth
