Just a few days ago my 94 Mustang has made this high-pitched, more of a screech than a squeal, sound for the first couple seconds after being started. This does not happen if I try to turn the car off and back on to hear it again.
It is very hard for me to tell where it is, so I just had my mom start the car for me. It seems like the noise isn't coming from the belts in the front, but something in the back? I don't know if this could help, but here's my attempt to replicate the sound haha: eee ert eee ert errrrrt
I read it might be a power steering belt, alternator belt, CLUTCH??, pulleys,
Anyone have any ideas?

Hmm, well mine happens for the first 2 seconds with the clutch pushed in, im going to try starting it in neutral and releasing the clutch to see if the sound goes away or changes.

ok i checked the tension on the belt - it is pretty tight, but i don't really have anything to compare the tension to in order to see if it is good
Not the belt...Belt tensioner...I know plenty of cars that do it. From what I understand it's just annoying and not really an "issue." You could probably find a good one off Ebay or something for cheap if its THAT annoying.

Yeah so far it's not an issue, but it is definitely annoying... and embarrassing.
I checked the belt tensioner and it won't budge at all.
