Default Can not figure out.

I have a 93 2.3 ltr that keeps dieing. I will be driving and the engine will shut off all the way no sputter for half a second then come back on fine. However, if I am stopped it completely dies. Sometimes starts right back up sometimes it takes a minute. There is no sputter when it dies. I checked my TFI and thought that was the problem because it only had three bolts but that is how it is there are only three holes. I also replaced the fuel filter. I really hope its not the fuel pump but thats what I am starting to think. Anything will help. THanks

Sudden shut off is almost always an electrical issue. Most likely a loose/corroded/damaged ground wire or connector. Start with the battery. Make sure the connections are tight, not damaged and don't have any corrosion. Wouldn't hurt to remove the terminals, clean the posts & terminals with a wire brush and put it back together. If the battery checks out, start the car and start wiggling ground wires and see if you can reproduce the problem that way. My guess is that you will. That should narrow it down considerably.

Good luck...

Get a wire brush and clean the pos and neg terminals. Not sure about the V6 motor sorry but on the GT there is a valve stem, like the one on the tire, that you can push to see if there is fuel pressure.

That was the first thing I did. I most recently cleaned off the TFI of the old ceramic heat S*** and replaced that with the silver fox from radio shack. I have drove a few miles and it has not shut off but I do not want to go too far and get stranded. I will update.

I know the '94-98 V6's have a Schrader valve on the fuel rail. On the '98 is on the passenger side fuel rail. It may also be there on the '93 V6.

I drove it one day for about 20 miles and it ran fine. Then today it shut off and died. Started it up and drove back home.
