Default Header wrap

Alright, I recently went on ebay and found header wrap very cheap, and I'm wondering if I can just go buck wild and wrap the crap out of my headers to reduce air temp(especially since I have the XCharger). Is this OK or do I have to worry about the exhaust not cooling properly or some other radical problem unbeknownst to me? Thanks.

Problem with header wraps is rust underneath. You could get a cowl or heat extractor hood

I already have plenty of rust, and does not seem to be a problem to me. But you are referring to the wraps trapping moisture and making it rust more? I have the ram air hood from Cervini's, without the ram air.

lol yeah thats what I meant. What kind of headers do you have and what coating do they have? Are they natural? If you remove them to wrap carefully, it can be done right, and you can even spray on some hi temp paint

Well, I'm referring to the stock headers, but if I do invest in some wrap, I will bite the bullet and go buy me a nifty set of pypes performance headers(lol). Which it doesn't sound like a bad idea to pre-coat anyways.

header wrap on a DD car is a bad idea. your headers will rust out quickly because the wraps hold water/moisture.

they are meant to be installed on race cars.

I agree with everyone, but it couldn't hurt to just put one layer on there, especially if I drive the car like I stole it, every time I drive it.
