RE: ODB2 question (not mustang)
Did you find out whats wrong with it... im gonna go ahead and guess its a Po401? lol... insufficent egr flow? Its a DPFE, small egr sensor on the back side of the motor. you can remove it and tap it for water. condensation from the exhaust gets through the valves.

RE: ODB2 question (not mustang)
i will have to double check my manual back at work, but manufacturers are required to warranty some emmissions devices for up to 8 years or 80,000 miles...there are actually two different warranties...207a and 207b...i believe one is 2yrs 20000m and other 8yr 80000
i cant remember off hand wich category the egr fall into...i will check and try to reply with awnser...

RE: ODB2 question (not mustang)
That's the factory warranty. When they release a TSB on emissions related components, Ford purposly extends the warranty for that particular component. My wifes is 3 years old with 55K on it. They replaced, no questions asked. Chris should've gotten a letter for it but since it's not a safety related TSB they probably only address them as they come or if they come in. My parents have owned a few Fords as well, same thing...

i checked my manual and it is telling me that the egr is only covered for 2 years or 24000 miles,
but i never hurts to try to get it warrantied...

RE: ODB2 question (not mustang)
Well I called the ford dealer and gave them my vin#. They did say it could be the DPFE and they would cover it for two years and 24,000 miles past the end of warranty so Im covered(3 1/2 years and 36,500 miles on it now) but if I take it in to them and it ends up not being the DPFE I would have to pay for the diagnostics. I guess I will have to wait until the light comes back on since I cleared it. Thanks for all the help guys.

RE: ODB2 question (not mustang)
Yep, let it come back on, verify the same code DON'T CLEAR IT, then cruise to the dealer. The DPFE is the problem but you have no proof now until it sticks again. Glad we were able to help
