Call or e-mail someplace like vortech and see which you should use. I doubt there's much difference in the basic ket between 96 and 2002, but the ducting is probably different due to the different body style. A kenne-bell would be an option too.

A 3v swap would be nice cuz then you could run the new Eaton TVS blower.

And Centerforce makes a DF for pretty much everything, that's what I run. The T56 is a better shifting transmission as well. But yeah, if you hunt around you can do either one for a decent cost.

As for power, I say stick a blower on and be done as well. Or find a good used mod motor like the Machs. If you have the bones they can even be had as crate engines from Ford for less and less these days.

Truth. A t56 is a T56 is a T56..... its just the bell/DS/xmember etc that makes it fit your car. And hes absolutely right... youll get people saying "just buy a TKO". Well, those are the people who DONT HAVE A T56!!!! You know what you want, so get it! find a deal on a 6-speed and have yourself the best RWD transmission you can buy (IMO)

Forreal though, if you dont wanna sc it or just want more, dont bother with a new motor (supposing you have a sound shortblock). just find a good deal on some 4-valve heads and all the odds n end you need to make it work.... Unless you find a really kickass deal on a complete 4-valve that is. Crate motors, in my opinion, are way too much $$$$$$ if you have the experience to assemble your own stuff.

The TKO shafts and gear clusters will take more beating than a standard T56. The Viper T56's are just as strong though. But, all the T56's use carbon clutch cones instead of bronze blocker rings like the TKOs, so they shift a lot better, particularly at higher rpm. TKO's are a bit smaller and tend to fit easier in some applications.

That being said, you'd be hard pressed to break even a standard T56 behind most street small blocks.

For the coil over kits to fit some struts, the top plate where you are having the fitment issue has to be modified. It may even tell you that in the instructions. I put strange coil overs on my lakewood struts and the top had to be modified. Some struts, like Stranges, do not have to be modified.

Here's a link to Stranges catelog
