Default MSD on 4.6???

Asking a question for a friend here:

How do you install a MSD 6AL on a 99 Mustang GT with a 4.6l? This has the coil over plug iginiton. Nomally, I know the wires from the MSD plug into the coil, but what about with 8 coils? Do you cut the wires from the computer for the coils?

Thanks for the help!!!

The 6al won't work with the coil pack ignitions, but i think they make one called the digital 8 that is designed to work with that kind of ignition.

I was at a speed shop the other day & talkin to the guy about different performance parts for the Stang modular 4.6. One question I asked was if the factory COP ingnition system is a decent setup or a weak link? He suggested Ford did a pretty good job on that, and should be one of the last pieces that need upgrading.

Is that true? Would upgrading the ignition system on a stock or mildly modified 4.6 be worth the effort & $?

Right. If Ford did anything right, the stock ignition is really good. No need to upgrade...
