Default retro fit 5.0 fuel injection plumbing

dropt a 1990 5.0 into a 50 ford. i have 3/8 hard line i am going to plumb as a presure and was gonna do the same for the return but looking at the fittings on the motor they look like 3/8 presure and 1/4 0r 5/16 return. can i not use the 3/8 feed and retun?is the return side smaller for a reason? its my first retro like this never used fuel injection before. please help

use the smaller line i belive its 5/16ths
