Default what should i do?

when i bought my car the ford tech's said that the calipers where sticking. so i figured that seeing that when i apply the brakes that it pulsates. that i will have to change all the brake componants.
is that right?
or could i get away with just ne calipers?
i have the money to do the whole front end (if i do it myself)
and secondly, should i go with ford products or another kind?
slotted or plain
i like the "cobra"on the caliper but if i get different ones then it probally would not have it on there no more.

so what do i do? where do i go? what should i get? [sm=feedback.gif]

A pulsating brake pedal means warped rotors. If there's life left in them, get them turned. If not, get new rotors and pads.Get a brand thats made in America because the Chinese junk is not as good a quality of metal and will warp again, quickly.

I would go one further and say that if you don't want to have trouble in the future with warped rotors then go for more expensive ones. I am trying out some Brembo cross-drilled rotors but I haven't put them on yet. My last pair of fronts were Raybestos rotors from Pep Boys and I noticed them starting to warp at about 5000 miles. My 94 has had that problem all it's life and I don't do hard stops. I would get rebuilt calipers and new pads and rotors and you'll be all set.

Another thing that helps against warped rotors is to use ceramic brake pads. They don't retain the heat nearly as much as semi-metalics do. They also work great even when wet and cause less brake dust.

are sloted rotors worth the extra money? someone told me they are only good if you road race, or for looks.

Slotted rotors help the gas that builds up during breaking to escape. They are not made solely for looks...they have a function...to keep the brakes cooler....roughly 100 to 200 degrees.

Default RE: what should i do?

well i changed the brakes todayin the rain, wasnt raing when i started it.
i just went with new rotors and pads in the front. i have only drove about 10miles and the pulsating seems to have goneaway but i havnt braked hard.
is that how you seat pad's? by not doing hard brakes right away?
all said and done it costed me $367.71(CAN) $296.44(US)
so i think that isnt too bad. i got ceramic pads with mid quility rotors and installed myself
thanks again all
