Default v6 vs v8

hey everyone. ive been looking at buying a mustang for sometime now. I am 17 w/ a slow land rover and have the need for speed. Well questions are v6 vs v8. major differences. Which should i go with. I have 17,000 to spend so money is not really a factor but insurance is. Im stuck between the two but am leaning towards the 8, any opinions for this guy looking for a new ride. BTW i live in PA if that helps with the hills and stuff.

First thing I would do is call your insurance and find out the differences in price. I don't think it will be a outragous difference due to its a sports car either way. 17,000 will get you a sweet ride either way. I would get the V8 because you will know that you have the power if and when you need it. With a V6 you will always have a V6.

get the v8...with 17,000 you can get a nice newer mustang....i personaly like the 87-93...more like 91 and 92 the most because with that much money you could make on ****ing fast mustang

Well, if you want performance, there is no reason to even consider the 6cylinders. Even if GT's arent always super cars, they are when compared to 'most' V6's

Just look at your insurance company as was suggested earlier and find out the difference in payments, and make sure you allocate enough money that you can afford all your costs.

as far as the money issue is concerned, here are a couple of options, like, 2 of a billion

17,000 could equal a nice newer mustang,, but it could also mean a VERY low mileage 87-93 GT or LX 5.0

it all depends on what you want to do, how you want to handle mods and everything after that

if you want a 03-04 with low mileage, expect to spend anywhere from 13-16K and the rest on tax, plates, insurance....etc...

or, you could go a bit older, say 87-95 and get a low mileage one for significantly less and put much of the remaining money into the performance and appearance catagories

No offense to the V6 guys at all but, if you have a need for speed then your not gonna get it with a 6. You would have to mod the hell outta the 6.

Do some research, on which body style u like 93 and below 94-98 or 99-04. Pick the one u like best, and get the top of the line. No offense to anyone, but if u go pre 99 dont expect too much from a stock gt. A cobra yes, but get ready to pay BIG BIG insurance. These idiots quoted me 6k a year for an 03 cobra.

Hey check out this guys add I found this is a sweet deal.. but wouldnt want you to kill yourself.. lol..

I have decided it is time to sell my Cobra so that I can afford to purchase a house. It is a 1999 Ford Mustang Cobra White with Black int. It has only 40,xxx miles on it. I am the second owner and bought it in 12/03. Right now it has a solid axel. I purchased a solid axel and swapped it in. It also has 03 Cobra fuel pump and tank installed. I was preparing for a supercharger but have decided to put my money else where. I do have a P1SC for the car. The supercharger head unit is not mounted yet. All the car would need is to mount the head unit, swap the injectors, and get a dyno tune. The car can come with or with out the supercharger. I am looking to get $16,000 with the supercharger, and $14,000 with out the supercharger. I do not check this site that much so please call my cell phone at 419-704-6673 or email me at Richleu@buckeye-express.com Pictures available upon request.

A little trick to save on inurance, buy a pre 99 v8 mustang. Probably under 10G's.
Then with the rest of the cash mod it out, suspension and engine-pi-supercharger.
Then don't wrap it around a tree.

If he has 17K to spend, dont mark out the 96-98 Gt because of performance because its only a headswap away from beatin your newer ones without the insurance, etc. It is fairly easy to find a very clean, low mileage GT to Supercharge. The Cobra will bring the insurance prices with it. A The 96-98 GT is an insurance sleeper...perfect to supercharge, not to old for a daily driver, and insurance would be just old enough to remain reasonable.

personaly, i dont like the body style of any mustang from the late 80s till 2001

the 02-04 GTs are hot, and the 05s are smoking

if i were you i wouldnt rule out every car except a mustang as well (hopefully i dont get yelled at for saying that)

take in all you options, and as ZW99GT said, find the body of car that you love and get the high(est) model of that
