SO WHO HERE USES ARCO GAS?
I began looking into gas octane and what it all means when I started to come across some very interesting articles about Arco. Even though I have always heard some negative opinions about it I have bought Arco anyway because it's always cheaper. Well... I don't think I'm buying it anymore.

They admit that they create an oxygenated fuel by adding ethanol and go on to state "With any oxygenated gasoline, there will likely be a slight reduction in performed fuel economy by approximately two to four percent."
Four percent less fuel economy??? So it's like I'm getting 4% less gas than I thought. I decided to do the math:
If gas costs $2.75 a gallon,
And I spend $20,
I will get 7.27 gallons.
Deduct 4% from 7.27 gallons and you are actually getting 6.98 gallons.
So if you are only getting 6.98 gallons for $20 then the real price is $2.86 a gallon and NOT $2.75. All of the sudden Arco seems to cost the same as the other brands.
I also read that ethanol is an alcohol that can cause problems in our engines over time. I know that this is a mustang site and not a gasoline site, but I just thought that some of you might like to know.

all gas stations are putting ethanol in their fuels now. its supposedly a way to reduce petroleum use. a few states, and many large cities require a 10% ethanol blend because it reduces emissions as well. you being in california, im sure you have put plenty of ethanol blend gas in your car and not realized it. they are required to tell you about it, which usually means there is a little sticker on the pump about the size of a business card that states that the fuel may contain ethanol.

10% Ethanol is not going to do anything to your engine. Look at all the guys who convert their cars to E85 (85% ethanol), it mostly guys who run blowers or turbos as E85 has about a 105 octane rating. BTW "octnane" in and of itself does not make more power in a stock to lightly modded engine. You really need forced induction or high (over 11.0:1 IMO) compression.

I have read posts of people who claim that they cut costs by not maintaining their tanks properly which can lead to dirty gas and moisture getting into the gas.
