Default 97 cobra second gear hurts

while at the strip on friday i missed 2nd gear twice, idk if my shifting has changed but may be thats part of the problem im wondering if there is a remedy to make the clutch deactivate sooner? right now if i want to get on it i have to take a second to press the clutch, make sure its deactivated, then put it in gear, not a smooth process at all, i can quik shift all the other gears just fine, it seems like im shifting faster then the drive train allows and im catchin second thats the only gear i have ever had a problem going into

does this clutch just need adjustment?

how/what does a clutch adjustment kit work?

To disengage the clutch sooner/quicker. You need to tighten the cable. Run it too tight and you will wear your throwout bearing prematurely AND/OR the clutch will slip when under power.

Another thing you can try is train your brain. On paper it's press clutch, move shifter, release clutch. When racing you just try that faster but it's actually slowing your shifting down.
Try pulling the shifter ahead of pushing the clutch.

2nd vid. Ignore the 1/2 shift. The ground is frozen and the car is on snow tires. I slow shift it to keep traction. The 2/3 shift is right in front of the camera. It's an old vid of when I first bought the car with the gayest shifter handle and mechanism, 80w90 gear oil in the trans and a clutch that I found super hard to push.
