I wish geico was cheaper. My mom has checked with all other insurance companies that are reputable and its more than what we are paying now.

If you are getting the cheapest rate you can find (extra charges or not), then you're still ahead.

I had no issue going from street drive insurance on my car to a policy that allowed me to run it as a track only car. I live in Miami now, and didn't see much change from my package while living in MN or TX.

I could see higher rates for certain cars... but rates are based just as much on credit score these days as the cost of the vehicle being covered.

Well the lady said its a new policy being put into act. Not sure if its only Allstate or not, but she did say that a lot of insurance companies won't be insuring them. Still waiting for the reason, on why my mom's being charged $40 extra.

Isn't that always the case. You pay your insurance month to month or however your payment schedule and then when and if you need it, you always come out paying more or being dropped. Sometimes I think the insurance business needs to be reworked almost like a savings plan where you put money in over time and if something happens when you need it, it is just deducted from the amount you have saved up. I mean, if you pay insurance for your whole life and never need it, you don't get it back.

My mom talked with the agent and she said they need to inspect my car, to make sure there are no high performance mods. She also said that there is a new policy they are trying to put into act, in Florida, which will go nation wide, that will make most insurance companies, not insure vehicles that are $80,000 or higher.

I was thinking the same thing. With my little 6er I have less HP (well less power all together) then most newer cars and I still get this mark-up. I think Insurance companys like Oil companys need to be inspected for price markups. I mean the government requires us to have insurance but do they do anything to regulate it?

I have all state and I have never gotten a surcharge. I pay twice as much for a cobalt with a 4 cyl than I do for my 5.0 with full coverage.
