Floridians watch out! Paying for every mile you drive!

I had heard about the one in Oregon, but this is the first I have heard of them even thinking about doing it here in Florida. According to that article, the information would be exchanged and you would be charged when you filled up with gas. So what about us people that live near georgia (or AL or MS) going across the border to fill up? Would they be putting up a border patrol? Yes Im being facetious, but for some reason I could see them trying that.

Oregon had a test program on this. Evidently it had plenty of "bugs" to work out. Still, it's being pushed.
Of course, they say this is only to tax based on miles driven. "They" also say they would NEVER use this as a big brother surveillance tool.
Since we all trust our government, I'm sure it's true.
(edit) Funny how these ideas spread from coast to coast among the politicians, isn't it?

The hope here is that enough of us will contact our state reps, let our feelings be known. We car people have enemies in political places. We'd better figure out who they are and then spread the word so we can vote them out.

But what if you are just trying to get gas for a weed whacker, lawn mower, etc.? They can't do anything about it then. What a stupid idea though.
