Default Rear end gear noise.

I have an 02 GT. Its has 3.73 gears, speed cal, exhaust, intake, and a pro 5.0 short throw. It has been making a whining noise around 5th gear or going about 45mph. I was told just to listen and make sure the noise doesnt get worse. But what should I do?

you could try having the pinion adjusted but id say that if youve been driving on these gears for a while, whatevers making it make that noise is worn into the gears, youll probably need new ones to get rid of the noise

May need a readjustment since it is gear whine, but depending on miles on the gears, you might want to consider just buying another new set and installing them. Would hate to pay for a repair, only to find out it is still doing it.

Could also be a bearing whine in which case you would need to rebuild it. Unless you know what you are doing and have access to things like a bearing splitter, 20 ton press, and an impact gun capable of crushing the sleeve, replacing bearings in the rear diff is best left up to someone that does.

Also, rearend gears that are whining and already have an established wear pattern are almost impossible to setup so that the whining goes away.
