Default Projector Headlights

I've got quite an interest in the JDM style of these lights, although I've also heard they have quite a few cons. If anyone here has and uses these headlights on their mustang (mine is a '98), please describe to me how well they work. I've heard that their light output is subpar even compared to stock lights, and I've also heard that they have a tendency to leak. I want to know how much functionality I might be sacrificing by installing them. I just want to know what it's like to have them from people that have them, not how "ricey" they are or whatever from people with merely an angry opinion...

My stock headlights are so oxidized my high beams work about as well as the low beams on normal headlights, it kills the look of the entire car...

I have a 95 gt vert w/ the projector headlights. They definately look different and give a different look, but arent the way to go. Mine came w/ bulbs and the bulbs were a dull yellow. I replaced them w/a blue bright style bulb and looks a lot better and brighter. I have really bright fog lights so that is what i mainly use for seeing. Without the fogs, i would recommend driving w/ the high beams on. The low beam is through the projector, the high beam is the main bulb (which on mine is frickin' bright!) If I had to do it over again, I would go w/ the cobra diamond cut style or something like that. I do like the look and they do work w/ my fogs really well. At night, they look really cool w/ the little circle lighting up. As for leaking, I purchased mine and one was sealed great, the other had moisture in the lens after one wash. What i did was use a clear silicon and sealed around the bulb insert and around the glass. You cant see it because they are inset, and havent had the problem since. I am looking to replace mine for the cobra diamond cut or smoked look, so if your interested, let me know and I will sell them to you. They are around 3 years old now, but still look new. I have drove the car 4000 miles in the past 3 years.....mainly car shows. Hope this helps....

I recomend you the cobra headlights because they are factory. Projectors don't illuminate like the factory lights. Also with aftermarket headlights the water gets in. I don't recomend projectors.

Thanks for the advice, although I still may get them, it's becoming less and less likely as I hear the un-success stories. One thing that I definitely want though is black headlights. I know you can black them out with some kind of special paint, but I'm wondering if there are other types of aftermarket headlights that come premade with black housing. I've really only had any luck searching on eBay, but I've also had bad luck with sellers there, I don't much trust the site for customer service. Does anyone know of any good sites that sell JDM headlights for '98s that I could search through?
