Default 70 Mustang High Pressure Pump Retro-fit

Hello

Nubee Here

I am wanting to retro=fit a High Pressure Fuel Pump into my stock fuel tank.

Can anyone give any advise on what pump to install in my tank?

I need the vehicle application and or part numbers or source to get the needed parts.

Will a HP fuel pump from another Vehicle fit into my stock tank or do I have to replace the tank to get the HP Fuel Pump mentioned above??

Looks like a great site, hope to look at it alot more.

Thanks

Dusty

The question is why? A HP pump with a carb is totally unnecessary and will require a regulator with fuel return to the tank. If you're converting to EFI you'd probably be better off just getting an external pump because I'm not sure if anyone makes in tank pumps for early tanks, and if you ever need to fix/replace the pump, externals are way easier to get at than internals.

yup, your carb only needs about 7 lbs pressure. a nice after market mechanical pump will give you all the volume you need.

Default 70 Fuel Tank Retro-fit

Hello Again

I am planing on installing an EFI engine and need the high fuel pressure. I would like to retain my existing fuel tank if possiable

I am under the impression that the pump in the tank is there for supplying fuel at a low pressure/high volume to the external HP Fuel pump since it can not draw fuel from the tank unless it is gravity feed.

Or, it could be a high Pressure pump in the tank to start with.

If the high pressure pump will not fit into the 70 tank, then what year of vehicle should i get a doner tank from that will fit in the same space as the original tank, without modifications other that electrical wiring for the pump.

Sorry about any confusion on what i am trying to do.

Thanks for the reply's

why can't you just mount an electric pump close to the tank?? most drag race cars are fixed that way with no pump in the tank/fuel cell.

Yeah, the external pumps are pushers, so you just mount it on a frame rail near the tank down low and it draws easily from the tank then pushes it forward into the fuel system.
